Michelle: Hello, we are excited to announce that we are having a zoom meeting for all MSAD members focusing on the legislation H. 3943 “ An Act ensuring language readiness in deaf, deafblind, and hard of hearing children entering kindergarten” on Aug 15, 2023 at 7 pm through zoom.
Kym: This ensures that all children who are deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing arrive to kindergarten ready to learn. (kym)
Michelle: The purpose of this bill is to collect relevant data on children who are identified as deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing and making sure they meet their milestones in order to arrive to kindergarten ready to learn. Right now there are no listed data within DESE and DPH on these goals.
We invite the community to learn more about it as it will go in front of Education Committee this fall - around September or October and we want the community to come together and discuss the legislation, and share their support, concerns in order to be ready to testify.
